Hi Honey, Yes you can cut back poppies to the ground, if desired.
-- Contributed by: Charlotte GerberI'm not sure I understand the answer that Charlotte gave...is it okay to cut a papaver poppy plant close to the ground after it blooms or MUST I leave the plant standing? (It's falling over and not very attractive)
-- Contributed by: HoneyHi Priscilla, You can deadhead the poppies after they have bloomed or keep them around for the interesting seed pods that follow.
-- Contributed by: Charlotte GerberI got some very good information from your article. Thanks I have some beautiful poppies with huge blossoms. However, after they bloom, the tall plants just fall all over the place. Can they be cut-back after they finish blooming? Thanks again for the helpful information
