Hi Marcia, As long as you've planted them before a heavy frost, they'll probably be fine. Maple trees are pretty hardy and do well, even in cooler temperatures after transplanting.

I bought 3 maple autumn blaze trees in early october. I live in Southern Minnesota. I am wondering if planting them at this time of year was a good idea but they seem to be doing nicely. Have I done the right thing?

Hi Bernie, If it was planted a year ago, it is definitely too late to remove it now. Burlap does indeed rot, and you shouldn't worry about it.

Had a 20' Autumn Blaze Maple planted last year by a profsseional who left the burlap on the root ball saying it would rot and didn't need to be removed. Should it have been removed? If so, is it too late to remove it? Thanks

I have a autumn maple flame and this is my second year and although it is my favorite tree, this season it looks like its dead, dont want to dig it up so is there anything i can do to help save this tree.

It could be a fungus but it is hard to say without seeing it. I would contact the nursery that planted it and see if they will take a look at it. See if they have any type of guarantee on their trees. With this being a relatively new planting, they may be willing to remedy the situation if necessary.

We have about a 8ft Japanese Red Maple about 10 years old. We just had it planted last May from a professional nursery. We have a black area on the truck bark. What is it and what can we do. Salvagable???
