Elliottia Racemosa - A low tree from 15 to 20 feet high, forming a pyramidal head of oblong dark green leaves 4 inches long, and large racemes of flowers each an inch in diameter, and consisting of four white petals borne on a short tubular hairy red-brown calyx. So far it has proved quite hardy at Kew. It is very rare even in its own country, where it is found growing in sandy woods. S. United States.
