Asparagus

From LoveToKnow Garden

Asparagus - Herbaceous plants or climbers of the Lily order, of fine habit with elegant leaves. The vigorous and tall A. Broussoneti is quite hardy in warm sandy soil, and so are A. tenuifolius and others. The common Asparagus is as good as any, and a tuft or group of it is graceful in a border of flowers or a bed of fine-leaved plants.

You can go ahead and harvest your asparagus. This will stimulate more bud production in the following years. You will also find that the skinnier ones are better to eat (as long as they aren't too skinny).

I planted 2 yr old asp plants last year. Said I could eat the 3rd year. They are coming up so skinny in the stalk. Should I go ahead and pick them or let them go to seed this year?
