Roots of Abies fir tree

I have an abies fir tree (erect cones 20 cms and 12 years old and approx 18 metres tall). It is within 3 metres of my bungalow. Will the roots cause damage? John Brann

Hi John,

It is always possble for a fir tree to cause damage to a foundation. I would suggst that you take a look at your foundation now or have a home inspector take a look. If you find no visible damage at this point, I would not be overly concerned. I am not sure which variety of Abies you have, but I would suggest keeping an eye on it if it is not already full grown.
