Best time to lay sod

If you want your sod to look the best and be healthy you need to plant it at the right time of year for your region. Otherwise, you will just waste your money.
If you live in a growing region that has four distinct climates or seasons, fall is the best time to lay sod, right after you harvest your garden. If your climate is hot, such as Texas, anytime is a good time to lay sod. Remember to keep sod moist and do not store it stacked in the heat for more than 24 hours.
